Icon of the Skies

Few flying machines are as instantly recognizable as the Goodyear Blimp. Since 1925, these lighter-than-air legends have floated above stadiums, cities, and coastlines, delighting fans and cementing their place as one of the most iconic brand symbols in history.

Today’s blimps aren’t really “blimps” at all. Wingfoot Three, part of Goodyear’s New Technology (NT) fleet, is a semi-rigid airship designed by Zeppelin. With an internal frame, improved maneuverability, and higher speed, it’s a modern twist on a century-old tradition - bigger, faster, and more capable than its predecessors.

The Goodyear fleet has seen it all. From carrying the world’s first airborne lighted sign in 1930, to building over 150 airships for the U.S. Navy during World War II, their legacy stretches far beyond advertising. Today, the names Wingfoot One, Two, and Three keep the tradition alive, continuing a lineage that started with “Pilgrim” over 100 years ago.

At Pacific Airshow, Wingfoot Three isn’t just an aerial ambassador. It’s a living piece of aviation history and one of the most beloved sights in the sky.
