(Huntington Beach, CA) May 11, 2021 – Legacy flights celebrate American aviation ingenuity and honor those who have and continue to serve our country, and this year’s Pacific Airshow will host the U.S. Navy Growler Legacy Flight Demonstration Team for the first time.

At Pacific Airshow, Oct. 1- 3, the Team’s two Growlers will shred the Huntington Beach sky while demonstrating the awesome capabilities of the EA-18G before being joined in close formation with a classic Navy aircraft from the Vietnam War era, the North American T-28 Trojan, for a moving 3-ship salute to the history and tradition of Naval Aviation.

“Legacy flights are an emotional and important part of the Pacific Airshow line up this year. It’s a key moment in the show when we salute the past, present and future of our military, and we are honored to host the Growler Legacy Flight Team for the first time,” said Kevin Elliott, Pacific Airshow director.

A variant of the combat-proven Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet, the carrier-based EA-18G Growler provides tactical jamming and electronic protection to U.S. military forces and allies around the world. The U.S. Navy continues to invest in advanced Growler capabilities to ensure it protects all strike aircraft during high-threat missions for decades to come. Presently, there are only 150 Growlers in operation. The Navy Growlers began participating in legacy flights in 2019 and this Growler Legacy team is based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA.

Developed and built in the 1950’s, the Trojan was used a counter-insurgency aircraft during the Vietnam War as well as a trainer. At Pacific Airshow, the T-28 Trojan will be piloted by Ken Karas of Santa Ynez, CA.

Best Seat on the Beach

One of the best ways to view the touching legacy flight and the many other thrilling performers at Pacific Airshow is the hospitality chalets located at show center. Available for corporate or private parties, Pacific Airshow chalets can accommodate up to 125 guests in a socially distanced manner and include first class catering and bar services. The chalets also feature premium audio of the Airshow’s live announcer feed so that guests can enjoy the performer announcements in real time.

“Pacific Airshow hospitality chalets are perfect for corporate events, entertaining clients and rewarding employees,” added Elliott. “We are going to great lengths to ensure everyone has an exceptional experience that will also be COVID-compliant.”
